- Shangli Hot Spring
Shangli Hot Spring (中文版: 上里溫泉) is a wild hot spring in Taitung, Yanping Township. Getting to the hot spring is an easy 30 minute walk, although it does require crossing the river several times. Twenty years ago the hot spring bubbled out at 77C, but in winter of 2018 it was below 40C. Perhaps next year it will be hot again.
Shangli Hot Spring is located upstream from Hongye Hot Spring, which is still got and great for soaking in. Taolin Hot Spring is 10km past Shangli Hot Spring, but it's an overnight trip and requires river tracing equipment.
