Old Guichong Waterfall (中文版: 舊歸崇瀑布 ) is a secluded waterfall in Pingtung, Chunri Township. The main waterfall is easy to get to and has a large swimming pool in front of it. Hiking there takes about 40 minutes. The taller second tier is just around the bend, and requires some moderate climbing to get to. The third waterfall is about 20 minutes past the first waterfall, and it's possible to keep hiking up the river beyond that. Satellite imagery shows two more waterfalls 750 meters past the third one. If you visit the last group of waterfalls, please share your photos in the comment section below, to help complete this record.
There is a concrete road all the way down to the riverbed from Dahan Forest Road, but it's not listed on Google Maps. To get to the riverbed set your GPS navigation to the point shown below, then just continue down the road all the way to be bottom. From there go downstream until you get to the first tributary on your right, about 5 minutes walk, then head up that river until you get to the waterfalls. Although this river is easy to hike when the water levels are low, please use caution during the summer, as conditions can change after heavy rains.
