Lakesi River (中文版：拉克斯溪水游泳池) is a colorful river in Kaohsiung, Taoyuan District. The river is warm and the rocks brightly colored white and yellow by mineral in the water. A flood mitigation weir creates a giant, chest-deep green swimming pool.
The new Lakesi River Swimming Pool is about 400 meters downstream from the old one. Most cars can drive all the way to the front of the lake, while 4x4s can drive to the back. The water is calm and in places it can be deep. The last one filled up after the first heavy rain, so don’t expect this lake to last past the summer. Visit it now while you can.
Fuxing Hot Spring and Fuxing Landslide Lake are two hours upstream.
For the sake of record keeping, I’m keeping this album of the old pool up. Currently (4/2019) it’s filled with gravel, but a big storm may clean it out again later.
