Fuxing Hot Spring (中文版: 復興溫泉) is an active, wild hot spring in Kaohsiung, Taoyuan District. The spring consists of several outcrops along a 100-meter rock wall. The hot spring flows out at over 60C and makes a small hot-waterfall when it flows into the river. It takes about 2.5 hours to get to the hot spring (4 hours round trip) and due to the high-temperatures of the hot spring outcrop, it's recommended that visitor bring a tarp to soak in, as the natural pool will be too hot. I recommend a tarp of 5x5 meters or larger.
For the first half of the hike, the Lakamisi River is high in minerals. These turn the rocks yellow and the water a brilliant shade of blue-green. The coating on the rocks gives good traction, making the river easy to cross. After 3km the river becomes clear, and just before the hot spring the rocks turn red, due to high iron deposits in the riverbed.
