Lavender Forest (中文版:薰衣草森林 ) is a protected coral reef in Penghu County, Dongji Island.  The name comes from the densely growing blue coral in the area.  The coral reef is close to the shore so it does not require a boat to get to it.  The beach is only a 15-minute walk from the ferry terminal.  Most of the coral is close to the beach, but you'll see more fish a little father out towards the rocks on the north side.  At high tide, most of the coral is between 2 and 4 meters deep.    The area close to the rocks will be protected from waves, but it's not recommended to swim past the rocks, as there will be a strong lateral current beyond the rock tips.

Aside from the coral reefs Dongji is a quiet place to relax. There is a small store, a few hostels, and a nice lighthouse. Fewer than 30 people live on the island full time. Goats outnumber people on Dongji Island.
