Pork Ribs River Hot Spring (中文版： 排骨溪溫泉) is an oddly named, but wonderful, wild hot spring in Yilan, Datong Township (宜蘭縣大同鄉). It's only a 120 meter hike from the parking area to the hot spring, which is on the side of the river. Heavy rains cover up the hot spring every year, but hot water still seeps into the shale river bank on the left side (facing upriver). Bring a shovel with you to make a hole big enough to soak in. If anyone knows the story of how this river got it's name, please share it with me.
The river is prone to flash floods during the rainy season, so be extra vigilant during September, October, and November.
