Rainbow Waterfall (中文版: 彩虹瀑布) is tall single tier waterfall in Nantou county (南投）. It's a great place to go to while you're exploring Highway 21. It's near Yunlong waterfall (Cloud Dragon Waterfall) so you can do them both at on the same day. The hike to Rainbow Waterfall isn't far, but it's a lot of up. Most of it is stairs. It took us about 40 minutes to get up (from the very bottom) and 20 minutes to get down. You can drive half of the way up and park there though, and then it's just a 20 minute hike up, and 10 minute walk back down. The path is well made and easy the whole way. There is no climbing required. The water is deep enough to swim, but not deep enough to jump. You can stand under the waterfall and in most of the pool. The water comes from really high up though, so expect it to knock you over if you step right under it when there is a strong flow. It's also pretty cold, so it's ideal for a hot autumn day.
