Jiamu Waterfall (中文版: 佳暮瀑布) is a double waterfall in Pingtung, Sandimen Township. It's one of many waterfalls in the Kayedagufung river that was dramatically changed by typhoons over the last few years. Like the rest of the waterfalls in this river, including Swan Lake and Lover's Lake Waterfalls, the Jiamu Waterfall is now taller and the pool is deeper than it was in 2015. This is part of the natural process of the river, which is now clearing out much of the rubble from the major landslide that occurred in 2008, during Typhoon Marakot.
Since so many rocks have been removed from the river, Huixungu, the beautiful canyon that you will pass through to get to Jiamu Waterfall, is also much deeper, and as such, more difficult to pass through. When the water levels are high, swimming against the current to climb up the rocks may prove difficult without ropes. When the water levels are low, passing through the canyon is much easier, but still requires swimming in every season.
The old road which goes down to the river is broken on one side. So please use the road on the west side of the bridge to access the river. Check the detailed map for more information.
