Caoshan waterfall (草山瀑布) is a unique waterfall in Chiayi, Fanlu Township (嘉義縣番路鄉). It's located high up on a cliff above the valley floor. You have to go through a Binlang farm and hack a half-path through elephant grass to get there. The pool in front of it is so large that it makes the waterfall look small. If you climb up to the top and jump off though, you'll realize just how tall it really is. I like Caoshan, and will definitely go back to check out the lower tiers. There are at least two tall waterfalls below it, and there are ropes there to help you get down to them, albeit they are a bi slimy. My scooter was having problems so I parked down by the bridge and hiked up. If you're driving a less-crappy vehicle, you can easily drive up all the way to where the elephant grass trail starts. From there it's just a 10 minute walk to the waterfall.
